A Bit About Me
Hi! My name is Mel and I am a queer, trans non-binary and second generation Canadian born to Greek immigrants. I hold a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Simon Fraser University. In case you would like to know a bit more about me to feel comfortable, I have lived experiences as a child in a non-English speaking household, a caregiver for older family members, and a person questioning and exploring sexuality and gender identity.
As a counsellor, I believe that we bring our entire selves to whatever we endeavour. As such, my professional interest lies in the intersectionality of various identities, histories faced, and the tensions that arise with respect to connecting, belonging, and thriving when holding these various, and sometimes competing, parts of ourselves.
My approach is to walk alongside folks in the direction that they wish to go, by offering a client-centered and trauma-informed process with elements of emotionally focused individual therapy (EFIT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
