A Bit About Me
Hello and welcome! My name is April (they/them), and I am currently in my final semester at Langara College and will be offering bodywork treatments to prepare for the Registered Massage Therapy licensing exams. As a non-binary and queer person, I understand the importance of a welcoming and inclusive environment to help you feel safe during our treatments.
My therapeutic approach focuses on helping reduce stress, as well as recovery and injury prevention. I incorporate a variety of techniques, including relaxation massage, myofascial release, neuromuscular techniques and joint mobilizations. I am interested in working with, but not limited to, people with scar adhesions, headaches, hypermobility, chronic pain, and postural dysfunctions.
Working with me will include detailed assessments to ensure that I can address your concerns effectively during our time together. You will be an active participant in your own recovery.
Alongside manual therapy, I encourage home care strategies by integrating stretching and strengthening exercises into your daily routine to support long‑term results.
In addition to English, I can also provide services in Tagalog.
Outside of my practice, I enjoy spending time with my dog, finishing creative projects, and tending to my garden.
What is a Body Worker?
A body worker is a trained practitioner who uses hands-on techniques to support physical well-being, relaxation, movement, and connection within the body. Body work can include a variety of approaches focused on relieving tension, improving mobility, reducing stress, and supporting overall wellness.
Body workers may use techniques such as massage, stretching, myofascial release, breathwork, movement-based therapies, and nervous system regulation practices, depending on their training and scope. Sessions are typically tailored to each individual’s comfort level, goals, and needs. At CAYA, we offer services that are trauma-informed, weight-neutral, and gender-affirming. Body work is not typically covered by insurance providers. For those looking for insurance-covered massage services, please book an appointment with one of our Registered Massage Therapists.
