A Bit About Me
Hello! I’m Kayla, a registered nurse with a passion for providing supportive, judgment-free, and collaborative care in the community health setting. I have a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Victoria and completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UBC shortly after. My nursing background includes pediatric care at BC Children’s Hospital, followed by a transition into community-based women’s health. I’ve had the privilege of supporting and working with a diverse range of patients — including those from trans, nonbinary, and other historically marginalized communities — through inclusive, patient-centered care across all stages of life.
I’m especially interested in IUD information and preparation discussions, contraception management and options, and reproductive health planning. I love working with patients to explore their options and make informed decisions that feel right for them.
I care deeply about mental health support, offering space for check-ins, assessments, and conversations that meet people where they’re at. I enjoy helping patients find strategies that fit their lifestyle – whether it’s through education, behaviour change, or small, sustainable adjustments.
You’ll often find me involved in parent-baby visits, well checks, patient intakes, and ongoing care updates. I believe in the power of follow-up and continuity, and I aim to build trust with every encounter. I’m especially passionate about chronic condition education, HPV awareness, and helping patients feel more comfortable with injections or other procedures that can feel intimidating at first.
When I’m not at work, I’m usually out trying new food, spending time with my dog, or exploring the city, especially if it involves a good coffee, hidden gem restaurant, or a walk somewhere new.
