A Bit About Me
Welcome, my name is Michela. I am a bodyworker currently enrolled in the Registered Massage Therapy program at Vancouver College of Massage Therapy.
With past experience of being a minority in my workplace, I developed skills in observation, communication and representation. Having grown up as a dancer and currently being a group fitness instructor, I am deeply passionate about the therapeutic elements that physical movement offers.
In my training, I have been exposed to the treatment of acute and chronic pain, trauma and rehabilitation, chronic fatigue and anxiety, and working with severe scar tissue and low back injuries. As a bodyworker, I work foundationally with Swedish relaxation massage, combining relaxation with activation and mobilization.
Working with you, my goal will be to understand what brings you joy and how I can support you in being able to do those joyous activities. Together, we cocreate a therapeutic plan centered around your needs and commit to reassessing as we progress, to adjust where needed and continue along the journey.
On my off-time, I am teaching group fitness classes, studying anatomy, making delicious meals out of bizarre combinations, and saving cute doggo photos to my pinterest board.
What is a body worker?
- A bodyworker is a massage therapy student who is completing their training to become a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT).
- Seeing a bodyworker could be beneficial for people who do not have insurance coverage or have used up their massage benefits for the year. Body workers can offer relaxation massages and support you in mind-body connection.
